Oceanic Pro Plus 2.1displayOceanic Pro Plus 2.1 has 4 bar graphs to assist us during diving. Each of those bar graphs has coloured areas – green, yellow, and red. These colours are a great benefit for us, because they will graphically help us of being cautious about diving situation we may find ourselves in – I just glanced at colours and knew straight away what condition I had, easy as watching traffic lights!

Below is a brief description of the bar graphs with the picture for better understanding:

  1. Tissue Loading Bar Graph (TLBG) – represents nitrogen loading and shows you no-decompression and decompression status: when you go deeper and dive time increases, segments will be added to TLBG, and when you ascend – amount of segments decreases therefore giving you more time to stay underwater.
  2. Oxygen Accumulation Bar Graph (O2BG) – this bar represents oxygen accumulation during single dive or accumulated oxygen during last 24 hours. You need to be aware, that if FO2 was initially set for Air – O2BG and all values associated with oxygen will not be displayed.
  3. Variable Ascent Indicator (VARI) – it plays the role of ascent speedometer, it has 3 zones as well: green, considered to be normal rate of ascent, yellow – that’s a caution zone, and red – is too fast rate of ascent.
  4. Air Time Remaining Bar Graph (ATRBG) – this bar graph is a representation of how long you may stay at current depth, regarding to your breathing rate, and have enough gas in your tank to surface safely, and calculations for remaining air time are related to value that you set initially for End Pressure Alarm

Before going underwater you will set desirable parameters and may access variety of other modes.

The structure of the menus and modes will be familiar not only to anyone who used dive computers before, but also to entry level divers, thanks to its friendliness. And this is a great benefit to people who just came into the field of scubadiving.

All settings divided into 2 Set Modes. Here you will be able to customize your Pro Plus 2 by setting following parameters and alarms listed below:

  1. FO2 – Air, 21% - 50%;
  2. PC Interface access;
  3. Units of measure;
  4. Time and date;
  5. Max Depth Alarm;
  6. Elapsed Dive Time (EDT) Alarm;
  7. TLBG Alarm;
  8. Air Time Remaining (ATR) Alarm;
  9. Turn Pressure Alarm – 1000 psi – 3000 psi in 250 psi increments;
  10. End Pressure Alarm – 300 psi – 1500 psi in 100 psi increments;
  11. Dive Time Remaining (DTR) Alarm;
  12. Max PO2 Alarm – 1.2 ATA – 1.6 ATA

Oceanic Pro Plus 2: Diving With Air & Nitrox

During diving you will get several displays – main and alternatives, with information about your current depth, Dive Time Remaining (DTR), Tank Pressure, Air Time Remaining (ATR), etc.

And we found that numbers are very visible and interface itself very intuitive during the test-dives with this dive computer.

Oceanic Pro Plus 2 NO-DECO Card

Copy this Oceanic Pro Plus 2 NO-DECO Card for your Reference and Share with your friends and buddies!

Upon reaching certain conditions Pro Plus 2 dive computer may give a Safety Stop prompt.

Dive computer constantly monitors our level of PO2 and O2 and if certain conditions exist - Pro Plus 2 will give us High PO2 or High O2 audio alarms with all corresponding data displayed, like blinking PO2 value icon and O2 level in red zone of Oxygen Accumulation Bar Graph.

If you exceed theoretical No-Decompression Limits – Pro Plus 2 will activate Decompression mode. At that time you will be presented with alarms and displays with information related to Decompression conditions.

Below is a summary of information from several displays that are available during Decompression Mode:

  • current depth;
  • required Deco Stop Depth and Time;
  • Total Ascent Time (TAT) – total time to surface;
  • applicable icons and Bar Graphs;
  • max depth reached during the dive;
  • Elapsed Dive Time (EDT);
  • temperature;
  • time;
  • FO2;
  • PO2 (if nitrox set), etc.

During Decompression procedure you may get into Violation Mode. Below is an example of what you will be presented if you have Conditional Violation Mode.
It may happen if you miss the required Decompression Ceiling Stop Depth by any reason, like for example, because of underwater current, and ascend shallower or stay deeper than required decompression depth.

In this case dive computer will display you following information:

  • applicable icons and bar graphs;
  • current depth;
  • required Decompression Stop Depth;
  • Total Ascent Time (TAT);
  • tank pressure

Oceanic Pro Plus 2: Diving In GAUGE Mode

If you set Pro Plus 2 dive computer as a Gauge - it would work as a depth gauge and timer only and wouldn’t perform calculations for nitrogen and oxygen exposure.
In Gauge mode you will be presented with main and alternative displays with the following information:

  • current depth;
  • max depth reached during the dive;
  • Elapsed Dive Time (EDT);
  • Air Time Remaining (ATR);
  • tank pressure;
  • time;
  • applicable icons;
  • Air Time Remaining (ATRBG) and Variable Ascent Indicator (VARI) bar graphs

After the Transition Period you will have access to following modes of Oceanic Pro Plus 2:

  1. Pre Dive Planning Sequence (PDPS) – this function allows you to see for how long you may stay underwater safely and at what depth, according to your current nitrogen or oxygen accumulation;
  2. Time to Fly Countdown Timer;
  3. Time to Desaturation Countdown Timer;
  4. Log Book Mode – it stores data of your 24 most recent dives;
  5. PC interface – this function allows you to download data from Pro Plus 2 to PC by using special cable and software;
  6. Dive Simulator Mode – this function allows you to set up and dive with Pro Plus 2 in Demo Mode, and this is a great help and benefit to learn your dive computer in different diving scenarios

Dive Simulator is really great stuff, and it helped me a lot to get familiar with interface and display before going to real dive!

Oceanic Pro Plus 2: What Divers Say

Positives

  • long battery life;
  • very user friendly especially for a novice diver, and can be recommended dive computer for the very beginners;
  • large and clear display is easy to read even under low light conditions;
  • alarms are very audible;
  • easy to use and the gauges are easy to read

Negatives

  • reported cases of flooding units;
  • download connector doesn’t seat well into the computer's socket

Pro Plus 2 still has few issues with loose data port connection, software, and possibility of flooding, but you may always find faults in some units in any brand of diving computers!

I reckon, that software issues can be easily fixed by downloading latest drivers and software updates from Oceanic website.

And anyone can really appreciate the air-integration and Dive Simulator that this dive computer has. Dive Simulator is the function, which can be enjoyed particularly new divers to get them acquainted with Oceanic Pro Plus 2.

And air-integration gives you great benefit of knowing the pressure in your tank and Air Time Remaining during a dive.

Oceanic Pro Plus - Large Display, Lots Of Data

I use Oceanic Pro Plus Navcon with the compass like the one displayed on the picture on this website. This dive computer is everything you need if you are pure recreational diver!

I've selected Pro Plus because I wanted to have hose air-integrated dive computer with large screen. And I've never been sorry for my investment!

For about 3 years of diving with it, Pro Plus has never failed me. I love its large and very informative and easy to read display area with sharp digits and coloured bar graphs. All dive data I need - just in front of my eyes any time.

This dive computer is easy to set and pleasure to dive with! User battery replacement - great option and I do it with ease!

I've read some reviews and people mentioned that buttons may be leaking - it never happened with my Oceanic Pro Plus. Buttons may look tiny, but they are easy to press upon even in gloves and solid.

It is great dive computer for recreational divers - beginners and advanced!

The Best Dive Computer With Hose Air Integration

This is a great dive computer with huge display and possibility to add a compass.

It has all the functions you would need, then some other dive computers. It is perfect for the recreational diver, and has the ability to do full decompression.

As a hose air-integrated dive computer Oceanic Pro Plus has specific alarms related to my air conditions. That's what I love to have - complete data on my display and extra alarms for safer diving!

If you are a safe diver, Oceanic Pro Plus 2.1 is the dive computer for you!
